Energy balance
What you eat, against what you burn.
The black line is what you ate. The dashed one is what you burned. The gap between them is your deficit, day after day, over 7, 30 or 90 days.
Your real expenditure, measured
After two weeks of meals and weigh-ins, HeyCal works out what you actually burn from your weight trend.
A gap isn’t a fast
A day with nothing logged is left out of your average instead of counting as zero.
One useful insight
For example: “On days above 8,000 steps, you eat 180 kcal less.”

Your watch exaggerates. We don’t.
Watches often overestimate calories burned. In smart mode, HeyCal only adds 60% of your active energy to your daily budget: your steps count, without making you eat what you didn’t burn.
Real data
Official numbers, not guesses.
AI recognises the foods and portions. Calories and macros come from ANSES’s Ciqual 2025 table, France’s reference database: 3,300 foods, from croque-monsieur to skyr. When a dish isn’t in it, HeyCal marks it with “≈”.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is HeyCal free?
HeyCal is a subscription: €29.99 a year with a 3-day free trial, or €7.99 a month with no commitment. You can cancel anytime from your Apple account settings.
How accurate is the photo analysis?
The AI is very good at recognising foods. Portions are estimated by eye, like a dietitian would from a photo, and values come from the Ciqual table. You can fix any detail in one sentence or adjust each ingredient’s weight.
Where do the nutrition values come from?
From ANSES’s Ciqual 2025 table, France’s reference food database: about 3,300 foods. When something isn’t in it (a brand, an exotic dish), HeyCal uses an estimate and marks it with “≈”.
Does HeyCal work with Apple Health?
Yes. HeyCal reads your steps, active energy and weight, and saves your meals and weigh-ins. You choose how many active calories count: 60% in smart mode, all of them, or none.
What about Android?
HeyCal launches on iPhone first. The Android version, with Health Connect, is on its way.
Can I see my data on a computer?
Yes. Log in at heycal.app with the same account as in the app (Apple, Google or email) to find your journal, insights and weight.
